Playing catch up

Oh hai!
Yeah we're alive again. Don't worry, this time we're really going to try to stay up to date. If you aren't aware (and you should be) we had a baby! Nugget was born Dec 3, 2013 weighing in at a total of 6lbs 3oz and 19in in length. Daddy's girl and mommy's pride and joy. Ok, and sometimes a pain in my rear end. God I love her.

So people have been asking the question now "what's mom life like?" And if I may be so blunt (it's my blog) here, I'm just going to tell you that I never pictured it like this. I have an extremely low tolerance level for crying and I am just about out of patience on so many levels. Nugget isn't even a terrible baby, she's amazing compared to many other babies I have had the pleasure of meeting. She sleeps like a champ and has her teenage years just about down already with the eye rolling and back sassing.

Mom life is like I am living in fuzzy dream land except I actually wake up when I hear crying and then I have to physically move my body from a warm pocket under my covers and go check on the noise.

Mom life is constantly checking inside when you want to step out for fresh air or a smoke, just to make sure the little Nugget is okay and happy.

Mom life is scary when Nugget chokes on her spit or formula. It's especially scary when she chokes in a car seat while you are driving down the road and have no way to tend to her fast enough because she happens to be in a rear facing car seat. By the way, that had to have been a mans idea to place an infant facing away from you. That can also by no means be a safety thing if you aren't able to reach your little peanut fast enough.

Mom life is gladly passing the baby around for you to have a minute to breathe. That moment is almost mixed with the same passion for wanting Nugget back so you can snuggle and never have her leave your sight.

It's about making faces when her diapers are smelly, sticky, and messy but also smiling and laughing when she smiles because you know she's really laughing at you for having to change it.

It's also about remembering to have the baby tag along everywhere and accommodating her needs before yours.

Mom life is a dirty job. It fills my heart with joy and love knowing I helped create something so darn cute! Seriously! Look at the little frog butt!

Mom life...just awesome.

Us Nystroms are one happy bunch. We can't believe how crazy these two weeks have been and how fast they have flown by. Every day our princess looks more and more like a baby instead of a newborn.

Thanks to all who followed the pregnancy and crazy ride. I'm sure our lives are going to be a roller coaster now with a lily pad tagging along. Stay tuned to see where we go!
