Christmas time

Our first Christmas as new parents and boy are we depressed. We really are trying to stay in the spirit for our newborns sake, even though she will never remember this Christmas. Between moving and having a new addition to the family, we didn't have time to wrap presents or decorate a house or tree. Heck! I didn't even watch hardly any Christmas movies or even Charlie Brown.

I know the material things don't matter and we should really be counting our blessings for having family around us to celebrate but it's just a glum season without traditions being completed.

No one in the family did our annual Christmas eve bash. No tree, no lights, no rum balls! It's not Christmas without the rum balls.

To top our holiday off, we recieved sad news about the house we are supposed to be buying so now we have to find a place to live...fast!

I guess in the midst of it all we can turn to each other and smile still because hey! We are still living and we have each other to count on. I would rather go through 100 bad senarios with a partner by my side than face a rough situation head-on and alone. This is our first Christmas as parents but at least it will be a memorable one. We will surely grow from here and look back when our daughter is older to have a laugh. We will think 'how silly, we were so sad.'

My grandmother use to tell me "there is no use making mountains out of mole hills." I wish she was here this season to help guide me along and calm my nerves. She always had a way of talking you down from the jump. She always knew how to make a holiday feel as it should even when you didn't think it was possible.

Let this be a Christmas for the record books. We will spend it with family and enjoy our cocoa and ham tomorrow and laugh. Even if we don't really mean it, we will laugh. We will count our blessings twice and realize how great it is to still be able to spend time with family.
