A scandalous kiss

Ignore the gorgeous lady in the white dress. That man standing on the box kissing the bride is my husband. After reviewing the blog a little I realized that I never formally introduced ourselves to anyone. We aren't some mysterious couple that I have apparently made ourselves out to be. We are just average Joes with a not-so-average story to tell.

It all started 3 short years ago at a house that was just rented by that girl in the white dress. Rewind to just a few short months prior and you will find that girl walking across her now husbands front yard to meet him as "the ex-boyfriends neighbor." Which means, yes, I married the ex's neighbor. *GASP* shocking, I know.

He told me that my dress was pretty and I complimented his baby blue eyes. So when he moved in as a roommate and my grandmother died on his birthday we knew that we had to throw a party. Well, I don't know about most cases but in this one, when you mix a girl with feelings for an older guy even though she has a boyfriend and some underage drinking...the results can vary. In my case, I kissed a guy I had feelings for because he complimented my dress and told me I was pretty. I also might have kissed him because I was drunk and underage and didn't know how to handle my emotions after hearing my grandmother had died. My ex and I broke up and I kept the roommate who wouldn't even talk about the situation after that night. But at least he agreed to keep living with me so I could pay rent!

Fast forward a month: Our first date was on September 17th two-thousand and ten. We went to a quaint little hole in the wall bar where Orlando's very own A Hero's Fate was playing. After the show he introduced me to the drummer, Matt aka Cheesy Omelette. We all hung out for a minute and then I was the designated driver home. Walking to the car, the man in the black suit pictured above stopped to kiss me and asked me to be his girlfriend.

Celebrating his 23rd Birthday and mourning the loss of my grandmother all in the same night was probably one of our greatest ideas. Not including the decision to get married two years after being together. If I can be brutally honest, he is no mcdreamy. But he is Josh. He is the man I moved to South Dakota for so we could continue our relationship. He is the man I argue with over missing socks because he is in charge of laundry. He is the man I sometimes want to throw a remote at because he has annoying little quirks and drives me nuts with his A.D.D thinking.

He is the man I was absolutely elated to say 'yes' to on our wedding day. So fast forward to now where we rent a house together back in Florida, with a cat we adopted from A Hero's Fate former drummer and all the while are expecting our first child. Three years flies. Maybe my grandmother planned our kiss those few short years ago, or maybe it was just caused by drunk ignorance.

Whatever the case may be, I am so thrilled to have been able to marry my best friend and the guy who still says I am pretty every time I wear a dress. Yes, even being six months pregnant.
So without further adieu...Happy Birthday Joshua Forrest Nystrom. Thank you for calling me pretty and agreeing to deal with my drama through the years. Until death do us part.

xoxo- Mrs. Nystrom
