The Hardest Decision of Parenting ever.

So, we've all seen the news feed and read the stories from Google. Kimye supposedly named their baby a strange name. I really am not going to type the name because criminy, you know it by now. Jokes were made yadda yadda.

Naming a life is seriously tough. I mean, seriously tough. Josh and I don't even know the gender of our Nugget and we are already frazzled on naming this kid. I want to pull my hair out thinking about all of the possibilities out there and endless combinations. This is down right torture.
We can't even be mad at Kimye for their choice in their child's name because well:
1: The baby isn't ours
2: We're sure it's for publicity and that kind of bizarre action will undoubtedly get you some attention.
3. This is the hardest decision of parenting EVER!

I have had hours to stew over this name. I have had hours to read posts about the name and laugh at some of the jokes made (rude!) I know! Sue me. But in all seriousness, I could just as well be naming our Nugget something out of the ordinary because we just like those weird and uncommon names.

This is a life that we have to raise and give a proper name because somewhere in the bible in Proverbs it says something about a good name is to be chosen rather than riches <--All paraphrased here. Forgive me.

Obviously this verse isn't literally talking about the name itself but rather the name you make for yourself. Think reputation. Ie; Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes. We know their name for their reputation more so than their quality works.

I wholeheartedly believe naming a child has a lot to do with how the child is going to be perceived in life and just how well they build their reputation. People are going to stereotype when it comes to names and they are going to nit-pick. This makes choosing a name for a life that much harder. I don't want my child to be made fun of because her name is too southern sounding or too common. But I also don't want my child to have to dwell on such a silly subject. I want him/her to build a great reputation and be known for more quality subjects like being caring, forgiving, polite and well disciplined.

When people hear Josh, most will automatically think of the bible. When people hear Shelby, they will more than likely picture Steel Magnolias or the infamous Shelby Mustang.

I'm not sure what anyone is thinking when they name their child and I definitely have no business trying to find out the meaning behind Kimye's baby's name. All we can hope is that their child and our children turn out to be the respectable and reputable people we dreamed of them being. If you can do nothing else as a parent, at least naming them is a start.

And Hey! They can always change it themselves when they are older and have decided enough is enough.
