Violence and the media

Something has to be said/done here.I am talking about the latest craze in news of course. I am talking about something sick. I am talking about violent situations and the media. I, for one, am sick of reading the news and seeing story after story about someone killing someone/thing or watching the shows that feature "inside the minds of a killer" or something of the sorts.

There is no reason for everyone to keep posting about the issues and circulating these horror stories. Yes, we all know that you are super sad about the issue. I "get" that you think it is a horrific ordeal. Anyone who does not feel an ounce of empathy by this terrible issue just has to be heartless.

That being said, let's tackle the issue at hand: Media
How many of you read a story with misconstrued facts during the whole commotion a few days ago? How many of you posted what you read/saw on Facebook or any other type of internet site? If your friends read your post (I'm sure they had) then they also could have re-posted it and thus the spread of false news and panic in the people.
How about we try to get the facts right before we send "news" out?

Why are we "setting up shop" in a small little town to keep covering the "news"? It is almost like they want to keep digging for more sad words to share. And when they find them we will no doubt take the bait. We will believe every word and beg for more. Curiosity killed the cat.

The media does nothing but stirs the pot. They turned a terrible situation in to a publicity stunt. News crews are covering the matter like it is the Olympics. HELLO! This is a parents CHILD. Have some compassion and give them their space please.
Let's cover something else for a little bit please. After all, the killer did commit suicide. What else is there to discuss?
What about this?
Instagram seems to be a pretty trending thing lately
Can we google some pictures of grumpy cat?

All I am saying here, is stop making this malicious news such a big hit people. I know we love drama but be respectful and let the reputable facts make up your mind rather than some popular media site or well known TV show.

JOSH SAYS:
Shootings are ridiculous. Even more, blowing up a situation and then coming down with the idea that all shootings are because of guns or violent video games is just plain preposterous.

Guns don't kill people by themselves in-case you didn't know. There has to be someone with a disturbed mind behind the trigger. Using a gun is just an easier way to kill someone. Last time I checked, criminal are not going to follow gun laws. Did officials ever think that maybe, just maybe it is possible to kill someone with a spoon, knife, shank, or pillow? No, you can't exactly take out a whole crowd but you can focus in on one person and be a methodical killer.

Secondly, relating any violent situation to the fact that the individual played too many violent video games is just dumb. I play video games. I haven't shot up a school or went out on the streets and stole cars and killed prostitutes. Most gamers can put the connection together that they are playing a GAME. It is make believe. HELL, my nephews can decipher the fact that they are playing something make believe. They are younger than 16 years of age by the way.

It takes a true disabled person to get any urge to take a life unless that was their job. Let's kill the blame game and really dig into the facts here. Parenting and a shooter's personality/ies should be a good start.

Think before you speak or act.

  1. What you are saying in exactly right. I am on tumblr all the time and I keep seeing the list of names and "reblog if you care" of course I care I am not heartless but there have been other shootings and no one is currently talking about them. Action needs to be taken to prevent what is being repeated but if no action is made then there is no room for anyone to complain. Be worried all you want but unless you enforce gun laws and protection in public places there will be no change.

I agree with Josh 100%. Look at the games our husbands play it doesn't mean they are going to go out and murder people. I don't play any of that and I have a higher chance of killing people. Why? I am mentally unstable enough to cart a gun around at free will. So I don't lol. People don't know the facts them they run their mouths and it causes people to place false pretenses in the eyes on society.

People need to nut up or shut up. Do something about it instead of rebloging. We enact laws to carry guns but do nothing to enforce those laws once in place. Sure you can get a ticket for not wearing a seat belt but shooting someone in public and just get off with the excuse of self defense... where is the real problem here?
